“The Art of Police Interviewing for Interpreters” Seminar in Lincoln

On October 6th we are hosting a day-long seminar at Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln. The day will give interpreters an insight into the kind of training that police interviewers receive, with additional inputs on the law and practice advice around interviews involving interpreters to help them to improve their own knowledge and performance.
As this seminar is almost fully booked, we are now considering alternative locations for further similar seminars to reach a wider audience. We are currently looking at venues in the London area, and also looking at the feasibility of Scotland and, in particular, the Glasgow area so please do contact us if you have any preferences.

We are a company founded by people from a policing background, with a real passion and expertise in the area of the interviewing of witnesses, suspects and victims of crime. Our skills have transferred into the private sector where we assist in a number of interview situations such as staff recruitment and preparing candidates for interview.
Our aim is to help to educate people in skills and techniques that have been acquired through decades of work within law enforcement, supplemented by academic research and study. We pride ourselves on being able to blend both professional and academic knowledge, skills and abilities with teaching qualifications for the benefit of course delegates.

We have spoken at a number of conferences and were recently very pleased and honoured to have been invited to give a presentation at the London Metropolitan University where we spoke to a group of interpreters and interpreting students about the police interview process.
We are able to call upon a large team of trainers from a wide variety of backgrounds including policing, law, education and social care. We really pride ourselves in delivering excellence and a high quality product in all that we do, so any trainer that we employ has both the knowledge and ability to deliver interesting and informative sessions to an audience.
On our website at http://www.zakon.co.uk/ you will see that we offer a variety of courses for the public and private sectors with safeguarding, decision making and court skills being particularly popular. We also offer a free of charge comprehensive resource library available here: http://www.zakon.co.uk/resources.php. This is excellent advice on the go for practitioners so please do bookmark it to your phone now!
Our most rewarding package has to be a day long training session that we deliver in primary schools where we teach the children all about the police and the use of forensics to solve crime. The children have a great time fingerprinting and taking DNA samples from each other, and finish the day with the investigation of a crime scene, whilst we continually make links to science and instil and promote the values of a police officer, and British values and customs.
